Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
  2. Center the steering wheel module coil, if necessary. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Centering in Steering Wheel and Column.

  3. Install the steering wheel module coil (1), align the lower locating pins on the steering wheel module coil with the matching holes in the switch housing, then engage all 4 retaining tangs (2).
  4. Install the steering column trim covers on the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  5. Center the steering wheel module coil, if necessary. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Centering in Steering Wheel and Column.
  6. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement - Left in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  7. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .
