Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering gear (1) to the front suspension crossmember (2).
- Install the power steering gear mounting bolts (3). Hand tighten only.
- Raise the front suspension crossmember (2) into position on the vehicle.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the front suspension crossmember mounting bolts.
Tighten:
- Tighten the left rear outboard bolt to 110 N.m (71 lb ft).
- Tighten the right rear outboard bolt to 110 N.m (71 lb ft).
- Tighten the rear inboard bolts to 110 N.m (71 lb ft).
- Tighten the power steering gear to crossmember bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 120 N.m (89 lb ft).
- Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
- Connect the tie rod ends to the steering knuckles. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
- Connect the power steering hoses to the power steering gear.
Tighten: Tighten the fittings to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Install the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
- Align the front wheels. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment in Wheel Alignment.
