Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Tie the hood latch release cable to a wire or string. Route the hood latch release cable grommet through the dash panel.
  2. Apply strip caulk sealer or equivalent around the grommet.
  3. Install the hood latch release cable to the hood release handle.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the bolts to the hood release handle.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  6. Install the nut to the parking brake bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  8. Pull the carpet back.
  9. Install the hood latch release cable retainers to the engine compartment side rail retainers.
  10. Route the hood latch release cable through the radiator support.

  12. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  13. Install the front sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Brace Replacement - Front Fender Upper Diagonal .
  14. Install the release cable to the hood latch.

  16. Install the hood latch. Refer to Hood Latch Replacement .
  17. If the vehicle is equipped with a supercharger:
    1. Install the air intake ducts.
    2. Install the push-in retainers to the air intake ducts.
  18. Install the left front headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  19. Remove the block from the latch mechanism.
  20. Inspect the hood latch for proper operation.
  21. Close the hood.
