Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and 2004 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    IMPORTANT: Excessive bending can deform the headliner during the installation. Use care when loading the headliner into the vehicle.
  1. With the aid of an assistant, move the headliner into the vehicle through the right front door.
  2. Position the headliner to the roof by aligning the sunshade holes in the headliner with the respective hole in the roof structure.
  3. Connect the headliner electrical connector and the ground wire.
  4. Install the headliner wiring harness to the inner roof panel.
  5. Install the front assist handle, if equipped. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement - Front  .
  6. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement  .
  7. Install the sunshade anchors. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement  .
  8. Install the rear assist handles, if equipped. Refer toAssist Handle Replacement - Rear  .
  9. Install the 2 rear push-in retainers to the rear of the headliner.
  10. For the headliner with the sunroof, install the headliner to the sunroof module by engaging the Velcro(tm) strips (1).

  11. Install the rear window trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Window Shelf (Impala)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Window Shelf (Monte Carlo)  .
  12. Install the rear quarter upper trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Impala)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Monte Carlo)  .
  13. Install the center pillar, upper trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Upper Center Pillar (Impala)  .
  14. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Impala)  or Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Monte Carlo)  .
  15. Install the side rail lamps, if equipped. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement .
  16. Install the coat hook. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement  .
  17. Install the dome lamp, if equipped. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement (Impala and Monte Carlo) or Dome Lamp Replacement (Impala with SEO, RPO 6C7) .
  18. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Fixed) or Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Folding) in Seats.
