Installation Procedure

  1. Install the pressure hose into the vehicle.
  2. Connect the pressure hose fitting to the power steering pump. HAND TIGHTEN ONLY.
  3. Connect the pressure hose to the hose retainer.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Connect the pressure hose from the steering gear.

    Tighten:  Tighten the pressure hose fitting to the steering gear to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  6. Remove the drain pan under the power steering pump and the power steering gear.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the power steering pressure pipe/hose to the power steering reservoir mounting stud.
  9. Install the power steering pressure pipe/hose nut to the power steering reservoir mounting stud.

    Tighten:  Tighten the pressure pipe/hose nut to 25 N.m (19 lb ft).

  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  11. Connect the pressure hose to the power steering pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the pressure hose fitting to the pump to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  12. Install the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine in Body Front End.
  13. Install the front right tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Fill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  16. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
  17. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
