Installation Procedure

    IMPORTANT: The steering column shaft (4) and intermediate shaft (2) splines must be installed in the position recorded during removal and aligned with the marks previously made.
  1. Connect the steering column shaft (4) to the intermediate shaft (2).
  2. Install the steering column assembly (1) to the vehicle.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install the NEW steering column assembly to body retaining bolts (5).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  5. Install the NEW steering column shaft to intermediate steering shaft retaining bolt (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

  6. Install the driver side floor air outlet duct Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Deflector Replacement - Left Side .
  7. Install the driver side instrument panel lower trim panel retainer. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement .
  8. Install the driver side instrument panel lower left trim plate assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement .
  9. Install the driver side instrument panel lower trim panel assembly. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  10. Install the ignition switch. Refer to Ignition and Start Switch Replacement .
  11. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement .
  12. Install the wipers/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
  13. Install the turn signal switch replacement. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Replacement .
  14. Install the theft deterrent exciter module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement .
  15. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement .
  16. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  17. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement .
  18. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
