Assembly Procedure

  1. Install the spring to the J-45400:  Compressor or equivalent. Ensure the hooks are seated on the spring properly.
  2. Compress the spring using the J-45400:  Compressor or equivalent.

    NOTE: Locate the spring to the original position on the spring seat.
  4. Align the match marks and install the spring to the strut.
  5. Install the following components to the strut:
    • The bumper stop
    • The strut cartridge upper cover
    • The spring upper seat
    • The strut mount bearing
    • The strut mount
  6. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Use a wrench in order to hold the threaded piston rod while installing the piston rod nut with the J-44626:  Socket or equivalent. Tighten the piston rod nut to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
  8. Remove the strut assembly from the J-45400:  Compressor or equivalent.
  9. Install the strut assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
