Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement .
  3. Remove the steering column covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement .
  4. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  5. Remove the headlamp/turn signal switch from the SIR coil module assembly. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Replacement .
  6. Remove the wiper washer switch from the SIR coil module assembly. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

  7. Disconnect the connectors (1) from (2)
  8. Place some tape around the steering wheel module coil before removing from steering column.

  9. Remove the SIR coil assembly to steering wheel retaining screws (1).
  10. Remove the SIR coil assembly.
