Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Support lower control arm with a jack stand.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the retaining bolts for the brake hose and the wheel speed sensor brackets.
- Remove the wheel drive shaft (4WD only). Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
- Remove and discard the upper ball joint retaining nut.
- Disconnect the upper control arm from the steering knuckle using the J 43631 and J 45851 . See Special Tools .
- Remove the upper control arm nuts and the adjustment cams.
- Remove the upper control arm bolts.
- Remove the upper control arm.
