Removal Procedure

  1. Place the vehicle in the straight forward position.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  4. Remove the column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement .
  5. Remove the SIR coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement .
  6. Remove the multifunction turn signal switch housing. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Switch Housing Replacement 
  7. Remove the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement .
  8. Remove the left closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  9. Remove the knee bolster screws. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .

    NOTE: Do Not remove the steering column to intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt.
  11. Remove the upper column attachment bolts.

    NOTE: Do not strike or bump the exposed shaft.
  13. Remove the upper jacket attachment bolts and remove the jacket.
