Removal Procedure
- Place the vehicle in the straight forward position.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
- Remove the column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement .
- Remove the SIR coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement .
- Remove the multifunction turn signal switch housing. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Switch Housing Replacement
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement .
- Remove the left closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
- Remove the knee bolster screws. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
- Remove the upper column attachment bolts.
- Remove the upper jacket attachment bolts and remove the jacket.
NOTE:
Do Not remove the steering column to intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt.
NOTE:
Do not strike or bump the exposed shaft.
