Removal Procedure

  1. Remove rear seat cushion assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement .
  2. Remove rear floor service hole cover.

  3. Remove no. 2 rear floor service hole cover for AWD.
  4. Remove rear floor service hole cover for FWD.
  5. Discharge fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
    6. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .
  6. Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal.
  7. Remove fuel tank main tube sub-assembly.
  8. Disconnect fuel tank vent hose for FWD.
  9. Remove fuel pump gage retainer for AWD.
  10. Remove fuel pump gage retainer for FWD.
  11. Remove fuel suction tube assembly for AWD.
  12. Remove fuel suction tube assembly for FWD.

  13. Disconnect the left fuel sender gage connector for AWD.
    14. NOTE: Make sure that the fuel sender gage arm does not bend.
  14. Release the lock and slide the fuel sender gage assembly to remove it.

  15. Disconnect the left fuel sender gage connector for AWD.

  16. Remove the 5 bolts and fuel sender gage.
    17. NOTE: Be careful not to bend the arm of the fuel sender gage.
  17. Remove the fuel sender gage from the fuel tank.

    NOTE: Do not damage the wire harness.
  18. Disconnect the fuel sender gage connector for FWD.
    19. NOTE: Make sure that the fuel sender gage arm does not bend.
  19. Release the lock and slide the fuel sender gage assembly to remove it.
