Ignition Timing
- Set timing with engine at normal operating temperature and timing light connected to No. 1 cylinder wire. Leave vacuum hoses connected to distributor vacuum unit. Connect tachometer to connection stud above ignition control unit in engine compartment.
CAUTION:
Dangerously high voltage exists in ignition system. Ignition must be off when attaching or removing testing equipment, or severe shock may occur.
- Start engine and accelerate to 3000 RPM. Adjust timing as necessary by turning distributor. Tighten distributor and recheck timing. Timing should rear 20° BTDC at 3000 RPM.
