Differentials & Drive Axles: Description

Axle shafts transfer power from the rear mounted transaxle to the driving wheels. All Porsche axle shafts consist of a splined shaft and 2 Constant Velocity (CV) joints, one at each end. The inner CV joint is bolted to the transaxle. The outer CV joint is splined or bolted into the hub assembly and retained by way of a spindle nut and cotter pin.
