Steering Column Assembly: Removal
- Remove universal joint set screws and remove joint. Remove intermediate shaft cover (if equipped). Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Push electric seats (if equipped) rearward. Remove horn pad and horn wires. Mark steering wheel position on steering shaft. Remove steering wheel.
- Remove trim covers under instrument cowl and column switch. Remove instrument cowl mounting bolts. Remove column switch mounting bolt. Lift instrument cowl and unplug connector.
- Pull off instrument cowl switch knobs. Compress spring clips and pull out switches and plugs. Remove ignition lock cover. Pull out plugs from guides. Mark them for installation. Remove instrument cowl.
- Remove connectors from ignition switch. Disconnect steering wheel height control spring. Remove steering shaft circlip and support. Remove column tube bracket mounting bolts.
- Pull up column tube slightly, then carefully push down steering and intermediate shafts against steering shaft mount stop. Remove column tube.
