INFORMATION

The compressor run-in function may be difficult to perform when replacing the A/C control unit.

WORK PROCEDURE

When replacing the A/C control unit, the order in which the connectors are connected will have an effect on the compressor run-in function.

G09882611

Figure one shows the order in which the connectors must be connected.

NOTE: Number 3 is the power connecter. If it is connected before the others, the CU will try to update the outside temperature value stored internally. As a result:

> An outside temperature of -40 C° will be stored internally in the control unit since it sees an open circuit because the other connectors aren't connected yet.

> This -40 C° value is not visible with the PIWIS II Tester.

> The compressor run-in will not work at this point unless it is performed while driving the vehicle.

If the connectors are connected according to the proper sequence shown, the compressor run-in will work with the engine running and driving isn't necessary during the run-in function.

The reason the compressor run-in is performed with the engine running is because this is when the compressor is normally operating.
