Coding Control Unit For Rear Lid
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Porsche Cayenne, 2009 Porsche Cayenne, and 2008 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Information
- If the control unit is replaced, the control unit must be coded using the PIWIS Tester 9718. This adapts the control unit to the vehicle and equipment.
- Before the control unit is removed and replaced, a read-out of the vehicle data should be obtained (if possible) using the PIWIS Tester 9718.
- During coding, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the PIWIS Tester 9718. A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.
- The PIWIS Tester 9718 instructions take precedence, and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions. The description is based on the Tester software release 17.02.
- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS Tester 9718.
- PIWIS Tester 9718 must be connected to the vehicle before starting it. Switch on the ignition. [>>] to continue.
- Select vehicle type and continue with [>>].
- The rear lid is open.
- Select the rear lid control unit and confirm this by pressing [>>].
- Control unit replacement
must then be selected. Press [>>] to continue.
Information
If the values cannot be read out from the rear lid control unit, skip the step for reading and writing values and continue with coding.
- Select Read-out values and continue with [>>].
- The PIWIS Tester 9718 screen displays the message "Coding read-out complete". Press [>>] to continue.
- Switch off ignition and replace the rear lid control unit.
- Switch on ignition. Once the control unit has been replaced, the values that were read out are loaded when the Write values
menu is selected. Press [>>] to continue.
Information
The vehicle must be level and standing on all four wheels before coding the control unit.
For your information: The position of the vehicle affects the tilt sensor.
- Select the Coding
menu and press [>>]. Then compare the coding using the specified coding table. If necessary, press F8 to change the required coding to the listed values.
Information
The specified coding sequence must be followed as the basic coding sets the coding for Bratislava commissioning to the value one, which is not permitted for the workshop.
Coding sequence Coding USA, Canada and Mexico Rest of the world Note 1 Basic coding Write default values Write default values This coding must not be coded, However, if this coding is run, then all subsequent coding must be coded again in sequence. 2 Flashing warning lights Off Off This coding must always be coded to Off . 3 Acoustic signal On Off Only code this coding to On for USA. 4 Trailer detection On On Always code this coding to On even if there is no towbar fitted. 5 Excess forces deactivated Off Off This coding must always be coded to Off. 6 Bratislava commissioning Off Off This coding must always be coded to Off. - Close the rear lid using the control switch on the rear lid.
- Open the rear lid using the outer rear lid button. The rear lid now opens fully and a warning tone is issued.
- Use your hand to position rear lid to the opening angle requested by the customer and press the rear lid control switch for a few seconds until you hear a warning tone.
- Close the rear lid again using the control switch and then open it again using the outer rear lid button. Check the opening angle. If the opening angle is OK, the rear lid has now been taught fully.
- Read out the fault memory in the Rear lid menu and erase the fault memory if necessary. Check the function of the rear lid again after you have erased the fault entry and then read out the fault memory again.
