Removing Spring Strut Mount

  1. Remove wing bracket.

    Wing bracket

    1. 1.1 Drill out spot welds using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld remover  .
    2. 1.2 Grind down welded seams -1-  .
  2. Loosen the hidden weld point.

    Notch

    1. 2.1 Cut out notch -LHD vehicle -  .
    2. 2.2 Drill out spot-weld using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld remover  .
  3. Remove reinforcements.

    Reinforcements

    Information 

    Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

    1. 3.1 Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  .
    2. 3.2 Make a rough cut -1-  .
    3. 3.3 Mark and make cut -2-  .

      > Distance 80 mm 

    4. 3.4 Grind down welded seam -A-  .
  4. Heat marked bonding surface using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .

    Reinforcements

  5. Remove reinforcements.
  6. Remove remaining piece of upper reinforcement -1-  .

    Remaining piece

    Information 

    Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

    1. 6.1 Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  .
  7. Drill out weld points on the wiper holder or grind them using a belt sander.

    Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

  8. Drill out spotwelds using > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  .

    Spring strut mount

    Information 

    Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

  9. Drill out spotwelds using a > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  and grind down welded seams -Arrows-  .

  10. Drill out spotwelds -A-  from the inside.

  11. Drill out spotwelds on the lower part of the plenum panel using a > VAS 882 001 - spotweld remover  .

  12. Heat marked bonding surfaces using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .

  13. Remove lower part of plenum panel.

    Information 

    Loosen connection points on one side only. Do not damage the sheet-metal panel underneath.

  14. Drill out spotwelds -A-  using > VAS 882 001 - spot-weld breaker  .

  15. Heat marked bonding surfaces using > V.A.G 1416 - hot-air blower  .

  16. Remove spring strut mount.
