Description & Operation

The 40 Bl carburetor is a single barrel down draft type. It is fitted with a special cold start device which supplies extra fuel for starting. The air/fuel ratio is determined by a starting air jet and fuel jet. The device is cable operated from the dash. When the cold start device is in action the throttle should remain closed so as not to counteract the action of the cold start device. The high speed system is comprised of the main jet, emulsion jet, and emulsion tube. Idling is controlled by means of the air jet, fuel jet, and idle mixture screw. All jets are accessible, except the idle air jet, from the outside of carburetor.
