Ignition Timing

  1. Connect tachometer and timing light. Disconnect and plug vacuum advance hose (except on 900 models), and place transmission in Neutral.
  2. With engine at normal operating temperature and at 850 RPM, line on flywheel must align with mark on flywheel housing.
  3. On the 900 models, timing is checked at 2000 RPM and distributor vacuum hose(s) connected.
  4. If timing is incorrect, loosen distributor retaining screws and rotate distributor housing until timing is correct. Reconnect vacuum advance hose, if disconnected. Adjust engine idle speed.
