Mass Airflow Meter
- Disconnect mass airflow meter. Check filament condition, electrical connectors and wiring. If okay, check filament burn-off function.
- With mass airflow meter disconnected from air cleaner (electrical connector connected), start and warm engine to 158°F (70°C). Let engine idle. Increase engine speed to 2500 RPM, release throttle and let idle again.
- Turn engine off. After 4 seconds, the filament should glow brightly for about one second. If filament does not glow, disconnect mass airflow meter connector.
- Connect voltmeter in place of mass airflow meter. Start engine. Increase engine speed to 2500 RPM, release throttle and let idle. Turn engine off. After 4 seconds, voltmeter should read about 4 volts for about one second.
- If voltmeter reads okay, replace mass airflow meter. If voltmeter does not read any voltage, check wiring and connections. If wiring and connection are okay, test system with a known good ECU. If condition is corrected, replace original ECU.
