Vehicle Speed Sensor (9000 Series Turbo)

  1. Turn ignition off. Unplug connector from ECM. Connect breakout box to wiring harness, leaving ECM disconnected. Unplug sensor connector, located at speedometer. Inspect Green wire between ECM terminal No. 39 (Green wire) and sensor for shorts or open circuit. Repair as necessary.
  2. Inspect Green/White wire between sensor connector and ignition switch for shorts or open. Repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  3. Inspect Black wire between sensor connector and ground for short to voltage or open circuit. Repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  4. Remove sensor from speedometer. Set DVOM to measure AC voltage. Spin sensor by hand. Measure voltage between terminal No. 2 (Green wire on mating connector) and ground. If voltage is not approximately 0.5 volt, replace sensor.
