Description & Operation: Notes

Anti-theft system consists of 2 separate functions: immobilizer (standard) and alarm (optional). Theft protection functions are controlled by Theft Warning Central Electronics (TWICE) control module. TWICE module is located under driver's seat. Anti-theft system has self-diagnostic capabilities. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .

Immobilizer prevents vehicle start if incorrect key is used. Fuel supply is shut off and starter motor relay is disconnected. Vehicle key contains a transponder with its own identification code which is received by a receiver unit. Receiver is located in ignition lock. Receiver sends a code to TWICE module which is programmed to recognize vehicle key. If a faulty or incorrect key is used, KEY NOT ACCEPTED will appear on Saab Information Display (SID). If receiver or transponder is defective, remote control can be used to start vehicle. See Fig 3 and Fig 4 .
