Measuring Resistance To Check For Open Circuits
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saab 9-5 and 2001 Saab 9-5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Make sure there is no power being supplied to the component or lead to be checked (e.g. by removing the relevant fuse).
- Set the multimeter to ohm measurement and connect the instrument to each end of the component/lead to be checked.
- Jiggle the relevant wiring harness while observing the ohmmeter. The resistance for a wiring harness should normally be less than 1 ohm. Special values apply to components.
