Glove box light: Notes

The glove box light is turned on/off when the glove box is opened and closed respectively.

• If the ignition is OFF (or the key removed) and the glove box is opened, the light will stay on for 20 minutes before turning off automatically. The light will go on again if one of the doors is opened or if the ignition is turned ON.
• If the ignition is ON (+15 and +54) and the glove box is opened, the light will stay on until the lid is closed again.

The power supply to the glove box light is common with that to the reading lights.

The lighting goes out while the engine is started (starter motor cranks). However, it does not stay off for more than 20 seconds.

To prevent unnecessary loading on the battery when the starter motor is activated, DICE turns the lighting off. When the ignition switch is moved from the ST position to ON, DICE turns the lighting on again. The off period is limited to 20 seconds for safety reasons, so that the lighting will function even in the event of a fault, i.e. if there is no +54 voltage.

The glove box lighting is always powered by +30 voltage to DICE via fuse 35. The power is fed from pin 70 on the control module to the lamp (19).
