Check Indication Of DTC On Display

Turn ignition switch to OFF. 

Connect Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool to data link connector. 

Turn the ignition switch to ON and the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool switch to ON.

Read the DTC on Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool.

Does the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool indicate DTC? 

YES 

Record DTC code. Repair cause of problem/trouble.

NO 

NOTE: If a DTC is not shown on display although MIL illuminates, perform diagnostics of MIL circuit or combination meter.
