Differential Clutch Replacement

Preliminary Procedure 
  1. Remove the muffler. Refer to EXHAUST MUFFLER REPLACEMENT (LAU/A28NER) , EXHAUST MUFFLER REPLACEMENT (SPARE PART) , EXHAUST MUFFLER REPLACEMENT (LBY/A20DTR) , EXHAUST MUFFLER REPLACEMENT (LBS/A20DTH) or EXHAUST MUFFLER REPLACEMENT (LHU/A20NFT, LLU/A16LET) .
  2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to PROPELLER SHAFT REPLACEMENT .
  3. Remove both rear wheel drive shafts. Refer to REAR WHEEL DRIVE SHAFT REPLACEMENT .
  4. Remove the bushing bolts and move aside the stabilizer shaft. Refer to STABILIZER SHAFT REPLACEMENT (GNC) or STABILIZER SHAFT REPLACEMENT (GNE FWD) .
1 Protective Cover
Procedure 
  1. Unhook the protective cover from the hydraulic pump.
  2. Undo the cable clips.
  3. Remove the electrical connection.
2 Rear Axle Assembly Fasteners (Qty: 4)
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and/or component damage, support the differential case when removing the case from the axle housing. If the case is not supported, the differential case could fall and cause personal injury or damage to the differential case.

Refer to FASTENER CAUTION .
Procedure 
  1. Support with a column jack.
  2. Secure with cable ties.
  3. Lower the differential clutch assembly.
  4. Install NEW bolts.

Tighten 
90 Nm (66 lb ft) + 90 degrees + 15 degrees
3 Rear Axle Fasteners (Qty: 4)
WARNING: The hydraulic pressure in the differential clutch is very high. To prevent personal injury, wait for at least 10 minutes before removing any parts from the differential clutch.

Tighten 
30 Nm (22 lb ft)
4 Differential gear
Procedure 
  1. Check/fill oil level in the rear differential clutch. Refer to DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCH OIL INSPECTION .
  2. Program the rear differential clutch control module. Refer to SERVICE PROGRAMMING SYSTEM (SPS) .
