Sensing And Diagnostic Module (SDM): Notes

WARNING: During service procedures, be careful when handling the SDM. NEVER strike or jar the SDM. NEVER power up the SIR system when the SDM is not rigidly attached to the vehicle. All SDM and mounting bracket fasteners must be carefully torqued and the arrow must be pointing toward the front of the vehicle to ensure proper operation of the SIR system. The SDM could be activated when powered while not rigidly attached to the vehicle which could cause deployment and result in personal injury.
CAUTION: Proper operation of the sensors and SIR system requires that any repairs to the vehicle structure return it to its original production configuration. Deployment (current Code
  1. or any visible damage to sensors and/or their mounting brackets requires replacement, not repair. Proper operation of a sensor also requires that the sensor be rigidly bolted to the vehicle. Failure to observe these precautions can result in improper SIR system operation and possible lack of Supplemental Restraint Protection for the driver during an accident impact.
