Input Shaft Assembly: Measurements
- Install 5th gear bearing, 5th gear, 5th-reverse synchronizer assembly, reverse cone and washer. Install input shaft nut and tighten to specification. Measure clearance with feeler gauge between 5th gear and 5th gear thrust washer. See Fig 1. Ensure clearance is .008-.014" (.20-.35 mm).
- Using a feeler gauge, measure clearance between 4th gear and 4th gear thrust washer. Ensure clearance is .008-.014" (.20-.35 mm). Using a feeler gauge, measure clearance between 3rd gear and input shaft. Ensure clearance is .008-.014" (.20-.35 mm). If clearances are not within specification replace thrust washer or necessary input shaft components.
