Test D: Seat Back Does Not Recline
- Verify power seat recliner function is inoperable. Ensure all other functions of power seat are operational. If height adjustment is the only malfunction, go to next step. If entire seat is inoperable, see TEST A: POWER SEAT INOPERATIVE .
- Using a DVOM connected to ground, backprobe for voltage at power seat switch connector Blue wire terminal with appropriate power seat switch in recline forward position. Then backprobe power seat switch connector Black/Blue wire terminal with appropriate power seat switch in recline backward position. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage exists at both terminals, go to next step. If voltage does not exist at both terminals, replace power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Connect DVOM between ground and specified wire terminal of power seat recliner motor while operating power seat recliner in appropriate position. With power seat recliner switch in recline forward position, voltage should exist at Blue wire terminal of power seat recliner motor connector. With recliner switch in recline backwards position, voltage should exist at Blue/Black wire terminal of power seat recliner motor connector. If voltage exists at both terminals, replace power seat recliner motor. If voltage does not exist at any terminal, check for an open in the wire that has no voltage between power seat switch and power seat recliner motor connector. Repair wiring as necessary.
