Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system check. See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing OBD system check, go to next step.
- Warm engine to greater than 176°F (80°C). Turn accessories on to load engine. Using scan tool, monitor engine speed and desired idle speed. If engine speed is consistently 200 RPM less than desired idle speed, go to next step. If engine speed is not consistently less than 200 RPM, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Check if throttle control, EGR or misfire DTC is set. If any other DTC(s) are set, diagnose affected DTC(s). If no other DTC(s) are set, go to next step.
- Check for vacuum leak, damaged air induction tubing, EGR stuck open or damaged gasket, throttle control motor current leakage through motor or connector, or TCC is stuck on.
