Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system check. See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing OBD system check, go to next step.
- Warm engine to greater than 176°F (80°C). Using scan tool, monitor engine speed and desired idle speed. If engine speed is consistently 100 RPM greater than desired idle speed, go to next step. If engine speed is not consistently greater than 200 RPM, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Check if throttle control, EGR or misfire DTC is set. If any other DTC(s) are set, diagnose affected DTC(s). If no other DTC(s) are set, check for vacuum leak or throttle control motor fault.
