Clutch Slave Cylinder

CAUTION: Do not use mineral or paraffin base oil in clutch hydraulic system. Damage to rubber parts in cylinders will occur.
NOTE: This procedure describes how to bleed clutch slave cylinder when transaxle is removed from vehicle. If transaxle has not been removed. See MANUAL BLEEDING  or PRESSURE BLEEDING  procedures.
  1. Attach a 17.8" (450 mm) transparent hose onto clutch slave cylinder fitting on transaxle. Depress release bearing on clutch slave cylinder toward clutch housing and release it. Release bearing will spring back, but slave cylinder piston will remain depressed next to clutch housing.
  2. Fill transparent hose with 13.8" (350 mm) of clean DOT 3 brake fluid. Connect Vacuum Pump (SA9180NE) and Pressure Adapter (J35555-92) onto top of transparent hose.
  3. Apply pressure to hose to force brake fluid into slave cylinder. Pressure reading on vacuum pump gauge will increase when slave cylinder piston reaches end of travel.
  4. Remove vacuum pump from transparent hose, and depress release bearing. Bubbles will appear in transparent hose. Repeat step  3 until no bubbles appear in hose. Leave slave cylinder piston in its depressed position. Drain hose into suitable container, and remove hose.
