| SECTION: | Body and Accessories |
SUBJECT
Radio Upgrade Service Procedures.
MODELS AFFECTED
All 2000 Saturn L-Series and S-Series vehicles.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide proper service information about radio upgrades for the Saturn L-Series and S-Series vehicles.
The L-Series and S-Series designs utilize the same 2 radio levels that are physically interchangeable:
- Base radios: AM/FM (UM7) and AM/FM/CD (U1C).
- Up-level Radios: AM/FM/Cassette (UL0) and AM/FM/Cassette/CD (UP0).
2000 S-SERIES AUDIO SYSTEMS
The S-Series has 2 different speaker designs:
- Base speaker system (UQ0).
- Up-level speaker system (U79).
S-Series vehicles with factory installed AM/FM Base radio (UM7 and U1C) come equipped with the base speaker system (UQ0). If upgrading from a base radio (UM7 and U1C) with the base speaker system (UQ0) the speakers should also be upgraded to the Up-level speaker system (U79) to assure appropriate sound quality.
2000 L-SERIES AUDIO SYSTEMS
The L-Series has 2 different speaker designs:
- Up-level speaker system (U78).
- Advanced speaker system (U67).
The L-Series Up-level speaker system (U78) is designed for use with all radios. The L-Series advanced speaker system (U67) is designed to only be used with Up-level radios (UP0 and UL0). Base radios (UM7 and U1C) cannot be used with the advanced speaker system (U67). To assure proper sound quality, matched systems should be used.
