Diagnostic Procedure
- Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, monitor Passlock™ data voltage. If voltage is 4.3 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.3 volts, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Disconnect Passlock™ sensor connector. Connect jumper wire between Passlock™ sensor connector terminals "B" (Black wire) and "C" (Yellow wire). If voltage is .4 volt or more, go to next step. If voltage less than .4 volt, go to step 4.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and Passlock™ sensor connector terminal "C" (Yellow wire). If voltage is 4-6 volts, check for open or poor connection in Black wire between Passlock™ sensor and BCM. Repair as necessary. If wire and connections are okay, replace BCM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If voltage is not 4-6 volts, check for open or poor connection in Yellow wire between Passlock™ sensor and BCM. See Figure or Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If wire and connections are okay, replace BCM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and Passlock™ sensor connector terminal "A" White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step 6.
- Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and Passlock™ sensor connector terminal "C" (Yellow wire). If voltage is 4-6 volts, check terminal connections. If terminal connections are okay, replace Passlock™ sensor. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. If voltage is not 4-6 volts, repair Yellow wire for short to power, or short to White wire (sensor power circuit) between Passlock™ sensor and BCM. See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM connector J3. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between ground and Passlock™ sensor connector terminal "A" (White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, repair short to ground in White wire. If continuity does not exist, check White wire for open or poor connections. If wire and connections are okay, replace BCM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
