Test A: Security Indicator Light Inoperative

NOTE: Use this test when indicator is always on, always flashing or never on.
NOTE: Perform UTD system check prior to performing test procedures and after completing any repairs. See UNIVERSAL THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  1. Using scan tool, check communications with BCM, LDCM, RDCM and PCM. If scan tool communicates with all modules, go to next step. If scan tool is unable to communicate with module(s), see appropriate article for diagnosis and repair of system in question.
  2. Using scan tool, select IPC output functions and command SECURITY indicator light ON and OFF. If indicator light operates properly, go to next step. If indicator light does not operate properly, see SYMPTOM TESTS in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CORVETTE article.
  3. Using power door lock switches, operate locks. If locks operate properly, go to next step. If locks do not operate properly, repair power door lock system as necessary. See POWER DOOR LOCKS - CORVETTE article.
  4. Close both doors. Turn ignition on. If DOOR AJAR message is not displayed, go to next step. If DOOR AJAR message is displayed, repair door ajar circuit as necessary. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  5. Open driver door. If DOOR AJAR message is displayed, close door and open passenger door. If DOOR AJAR message is displayed, go to next step. If DOOR AJAR message is not displayed, repair door ajar circuit as necessary. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  6. Turn ignition on. If SECURITY indicator light is off, go to next step. If SECURITY indicator light is on or flashing, go to step  8 .
  7. Check the following circuits for intermittent problems: door ajar switches, power door lock switches, hood ajar switch (export only) and communications between BCM, RDCM, LDCM and PCM. If no problems are found, system is okay. If a problem is found, repair as necessary.
  8. Using scan tool, check for any UTD-related DTCs. If any DTCs exist, see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  . If no DTCs exist, system is okay.
