DTC P0724: Brake Switch Circuit Low: Description

The brake switch indicates brake pedal status to PCM. Brake switch is normally open. Battery voltage is supplied to PCM brake switch input circuit (terminal No. 35) when brake is applied. Scan tool should display APPLIED when brake pedal is depressed and RELEASED when brake pedal is released. PCM monitors stoplight switch input for low and high voltage faults under certain conditions. DTC sets when vehicle has decelerated a set number of times and voltage at PCM remains low, indicating brake pedal is always being released.
