EVAP Vent Solenoid: Installation

NOTE: Ensure that vent solenoid "clicks" into engagement with locking tab on box.
  1. Install EVAP vent solenoid to box on filler pipe.
    NOTE: The lid or shield for EVAP vent solenoid must always be installed. The lid and solenoid box shield the vent solenoid from water and contaminants. This allows vent solenoid to function properly.
  2. Install shield on EVAP vent solenoid box. See Figure .
    NOTE: Ensure that vent pipe is properly positioned in retainer on fuel filler pipe lower attachment.
  3. Install vent pipe hose to vent solenoid and secure with clamp.
  4. Install lower fuel fill neck retainer bolt. Tighten fuel fill neck retainer bolts to 13 N.m (9.5 ft-lbs). See Figure .
  5. Tighten fuel fill neck inlet nut. Tighten fuel fill neck inlet nut to 2.5 N.m (22 in-lbs).
