Oil Cooler Replacement: Installation
- Install engine oil cooler.
- Apply a 2 mm (0.08 in.) head of Loctite 5900® or equivalent, in the groove around engine oil cooler cover in place of oil seal.
- Install engine oil cooler cover.
- Install engine oil cooler cover bolts using torque sequence shown. See Fig 2.
Torque:
Engine Oil Cooler Cover Bolt: 30 N.m (22 ft-lbs)
- Install engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts.
Torque:
Engine Oil Cooler Inlet and Outlet Nut: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)
WARNING: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED. - Raise and support vehicle.
- Install oil feed line.
- Install return line.
- Install oil feed line to engine block.
Torque:
Oil Cooler Feed and Return Lines to Engine Block: 30 N.m (22 ft-lbs)
- Install return line to the engine block.
Torque:
Oil Cooler Feed and Return Lines to Engine Block: 30 N.m (22 ft-lbs)
- Install engine oil cooler line clamp.
- Install crank sensor.
- Install crank sensor bolt.
Torque:
Crankshaft Position Sensor Bolt: 8 N.m (71 in-lbs)
- Install oil filter housing.
Torque:
Oil Filter Cartridge Housing-to-
Engine: 45 N.m (33 ft-lbs)
- Lower vehicle.
- Install oil feed and install return lines to engine oil cooler. Use four new seals.
Torque:
Oil Cooler Feed and Return Lines to Engine
Block: 30 N.m (22 ft-lbs)
- Install coolant bridge. See Figure.
- Check and fill engine oil as necessary.
