Diagnostic Procedures

NOTE: If DTC P0461, P0462, P0463 or P1640 is set, diagnose affected DTCs first and retest system. See DTC P0461: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE  , DTC P0462: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT - LOW VOLTAGE  or DTC P0463: FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT - HIGH VOLTAGE  .
  1. Turn ignition on, engine off. Remove fuel cap. Using scan tool, monitor FUEL TANK PRESS. SENSOR. If voltage is 2.35-2.85 volts, go to step  3 . If voltage is not 2.35-2.85 volts, go to next step.
  2. If voltage is less than 0.1 volt, see DTC P0452: EVAP FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT - LOW VOLTAGE  . If voltage is 0.10-2.35 volts or 2.85-4.90 volts, replace fuel tank pressure sensor. If voltage is more than 4.90 volts, see DTC P0453: EVAP FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT - HIGH VOLTAGE  .
  3. Install fuel cap. Using scan tool, perform EVAP SYSTEM SEAL special functions. Connect EVAP Pressure/Purge Cart (J 41413) to EVAP service port. Pressurize system to 30 in. H2O, then switch to HOLD position. Use ultrasonic leak detector to locate small leaks. After repairs, retest system.
