  1. Did you perform the DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK? If so, go to the next step. If not, see DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect the scan tool to the DLC located under the left side of the instrument panel. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Using the scan tool, view SHIFTER INHIBIT in the TCM data list. Does the SHIFTER INHIBIT display LOW TFT? If so, go to next step. If not, go to step  6 .
  3. Wait 5 minutes and attempt to shift. Can you shift out of Park? If so, system is okay. If not, go to next step.
  4. Using the scan tool, view the TRANS FLUID TEMP in the TCM data list. Is the temperature above -13°F (-25°C)? If so, go to next step. If not, diagnose DTC P0713. See appropriate DIAGNOSIS article.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCM harness connector. Turn ignition on. Attempt to shift. Can you shift out of Park? If so, replace TCM. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate DIAGNOSIS article. If not, check connection at BTSI solenoid. If okay, replace BTSI solenoid. See BRAKE TRANSAXLE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Using the scan tool, view the SHIFTER UNLOCK FDBK in the BCM accessory display. While observing the SHIFTER UNLOCK FDBK, press and release the brake pedal. Does the scan tool parameter change between HIGH and LOW. If so, go to next step. If not, replace the BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  7. Connect test light between ground and ignition feed circuit (Pink wire) at BTSI connector. Does the test light illuminate? If so, check connection at BTSI solenoid. If okay, replace BTSI solenoid. See BRAKE TRANSAXLE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If not, go to next step.
  8. Check for open circuit, a short to ground or poor connections in the ignition feed circuit to BTSI solenoid. See TROUBLE SHOOTING  . Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If no problem is found, replace the BTSI solenoid. See BRAKE TRANSAXLE SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
