Door Adjustment - Front
- Remove the door lock striker. Refer to Door Striker Replacement - Front Door .
- For up, down, forward, or rearward adjustment, loosen the hinge to hinge pillar bolts.
- For inboard or outboard adjustment, perform the following steps:
- Remove the front door outer panel. Refer to Outer Door Panel Replacement Front - Bolt On .
- Remove the front door sound insulator. Refer to Sound Insulator Replacement - Front Door .
- Loosen the door to hinge nuts and adjust the door as necessary.
- If proper door adjustment cannot be obtained, perform the following steps:
- Remove the front door. Refer to Door Replacement - Front .
- Enlarge the outer 2 stud openings closest to the door panel with a drill bit to 13 mm (1/2 in).
- Apply primer to the bare metal areas where holes were drilled.
- Install the front door. Refer to Door Replacement - Front .
- Move the door within the door opening to achieve the best alignment and operation.
- Tighten all of the hinge fasteners that were loosened.
Tighten: Tighten the hinge fasteners to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Install the front door sound insulator. Refer to Sound Insulator Replacement - Front Door .
- Install the front door outer panel. Refer to Outer Door Panel Replacement Front - Bolt On .
- Install the striker to the approximate proper position.
- Adjust the door striker. Refer to Door Striker Adjustment - Front Door .
- Inspect the door weatherstrips for proper fit.
