Throttle Body: Installation
NOTE:
The throttle body-to-manifold gasket is reusable if it is not damaged. Replace gasket if damaged.
- Install throttle body gasket. Install throttle body and throttle cable bracket. Install throttle body mounting bolts and nuts. Tighten throttle body bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect throttle and cruise control cables.
- Connect TP sensor and IAC harness connectors. Connect the MAP sensor harness connector. Connect fuel pressure regulator hose to throttle body and fuel rail. Install air inlet tube and air cleaner assembly. Connect negative battery cable. Tighten negative battery terminal bolts to specification.
- Install throttle body and new gasket. Install throttle body nuts. Tighten throttle body nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Attach vacuum lines, EVAP hose and coolant lines to throttle body.
- Install EGR pipe bolt. Tighten bolt to specification. Install the intake plenum bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. Connect intake plenum-to-runner connector clamps using Universal Clamp Pliers (J43914). If clamps are damaged, replace with screw type clamps.
- Connect throttle body electrical harness connector. Install inlet hose assembly to throttle body. Connect negative battery cable. Tighten negative battery terminal bolt to specification. Verify coolant level and add, if necessary.
- If installing a new throttle body, perform the following relearn procedure. Turn ignition Off for 10 seconds. Turn ignition On, engine Off. Ensure the following engine operating parameters are met before proceeding:
- ECT must be 43-212°F (6-100°C).
- IAT must be greater than 43°F (6°C).
- Ignition voltage must be above 10 volts.
- Accelerator pedal angle must be less than 14 percent.
Leave ignition On for 1 minute with engine Off.
