Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Saturn Ion Red Line, 2005 Saturn Ion 3, 2005 Saturn Ion 2, and 2005 Saturn Ion 1. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Position the steering knuckle onto the lower control arm ball stud, while guiding the axle through the knuckle.NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the strut to knuckle bolts and nuts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts and nuts to 120 N.m (89 lb ft).
- Install the lower control arm ball stud to steering knuckle pinch bolt and nut.
Tighten:
- First Pass: Tighten the nut to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Reverse nut 3/4 turn
- Second Pass: Tighten the nut to 50 N.m (37 lb ft) + 30 degrees.
- Install the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
Tighten: Tighten the nut to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
- Install the wheel bearing, brake rotor, brake caliper and front wheels. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Front .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Road test the vehicle in order to verify alignment. If a lead or pull is present refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment in Wheel Alignment.
