Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X3 at the PSCM.
- Ignition OFF, test for between 2 and 20 ohms between the exciting circuit terminal 4 and the exciting ground circuit terminal 2 of the torque sensor.
- If outside the specified range, test the exciting and exciting ground circuits for a short or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- Ignition OFF, test for between 100 and 500 ohms between the input SIN circuit terminal 8 and the torque sensor ground circuit terminal 1 of the torque sensor.
- If outside the specified range, test the input SIN and the torque sensor ground circuits for a short or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- Ignition OFF, test for between 300 and 1000 ohms between the input COS circuit terminal 7 and the torque sensor ground circuit terminal 1 of the torque sensor.
- If outside the specified range, test the input COS and the torque sensor ground circuits for a short or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- Ignition OFF, test for between 50 and 200 ohms between the output SIN circuit terminal 6 and the torque sensor ground circuit terminal 1 of the torque sensor.
- If outside the specified range, test the output SIN and the torque sensor ground circuits for a short or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- Ignition OFF, test for between 200 and 800 ohms between the output COS circuit terminal 5 and the torque sensor ground circuit terminal 1 of the torque sensor.
- If outside the specified range, test the output COS and the torque sensor ground circuits for a short or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 Mega-ohm between the exciting ground circuit terminal 2 and the torque sensor ground terminal 1.
- If less than the specified range, test the exciting ground circuit for a short to the torque sensor ground circuit. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 Mega-ohm between the torque sensor ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the torque sensor ground circuit for a short to ground. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1.0 Mega-ohm between the exciting ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the exciting ground circuit for a short to ground. If circuits test normal, replace the steering column.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the PSCM.
