Instrument/Panel Sub-ASSY: Replacement
HINT:

- Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT:
The bolts, screws and nuts necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, are illustrated below and coded alphabetically.
- DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (SEE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM )
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
- Disengage the 2 clips, and remove the front pillar garnish LH.
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH
- Disengage the 2 clips and the claw, and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel LH.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Disengage the 6 claws, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel.
- REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Remove the 3 screws < E >.
- Disconnect the connectors, and remove the combination meter assy.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO.2
- Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel garnish No.2.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO.1
- REMOVE HEATER CONTROL KNOB
- Remove the 3 heater control knobs.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CTR
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Disengage the 4 clips and the claw, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy CTR.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE STEREO OPENING COVER W/BRACKET (W/O RADIO)
- Remove the 4 screws and the radio bracket No.1 & No.2.
- REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSY W/BRACKET (W/ RADIO) (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSY
- Push in the sides of the upper part of the glove compartment door assy to release the stoppers.
- Pull the glove compartment door assy and remove it.
- DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY
- Remove the 4 screws < C >, < D > or < E >and the bolt < A >.
- Disengage the 3 clips and the 9 claws.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Pull the instrument panel sub-assy w/ passenger airbag assy and remove it.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIR BAG ASSY (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1
- Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the heater to register duct No.1 from the instrument panel sub-assy.
- REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.1
- Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the instrument panel register assy No.1 from the instrument panel sub-assy.

- Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the instrument panel register assy No.1 from the instrument panel sub-assy.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION NO.1
- Remove the instrument panel cushion No.1 from the instrument panel sub-assy.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY
- INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.1
- When replacing the instrument panel sub-assy with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.NOTE: When reusing the instrument panel sub-assy, start from step (b).
- Using a screw, install the instrument panel register assy No.1 to the instrument panel sub-assy.
- When replacing the instrument panel sub-assy with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.
- INSTALL HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.1
- When replacing the instrument panel sub-assy with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.NOTE: When reusing the instrument panel sub-assy, start from step (b).
- Using a screw, install the heater to register duct No.1 to the instrument panel sub-assy.
- When replacing the instrument panel sub-assy with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.
- INSTALL HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO.3
- INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY
- Using a torque wrench, install the instrument panel sub-assy w/ passenger airbag assy with bolt < A >.
Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
- Using a torque wrench, install the instrument panel sub-assy w/ passenger airbag assy with bolt < A >.
- INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
