Skid Control Sensor: Removal

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  3. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING WITH REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE REAR DISC  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE SKID CONTROL SENSOR 
    1. Install the 4 hub nuts to the 4 rear axle hub bolts.

    3. Placing an aluminum plate below the rear axle hub and bearing assembly, place them into a vise.
      NOTE: Replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
    4. Using a 3 mm pin punch and hammer, remove the 2 pins from the SST (09520-00031) and disconnect the attachment (09521-00010).
    5. Using SST and 2 bolts, remove the skid control sensor from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      SST 09520-00031 (09520-00040), 09521-00020, 09950-00020 

      NOTE:
      • Pull the skid control sensor off straight, be careful not to make contact with the skid control sensor rotor.
      • If the sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
      • Do not scratch the area where the skid control sensor contacts the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
      • Do not attach the foreign matter to the sensor rotor.
