Manual Transaxle Assembly: Removal
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
- REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
- REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
- DRAIN TRANSAXLE OIL
- Remove the filler plug and gasket.
- Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the oil.
- Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
- REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE BATTERY
- REMOVE BATTERY TRAY
- REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER
- Remove the 4 bolts and battery carrier.
- REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
- Remove the 3 bolts, and disconnect the 3 wire harnesses.
- DISCONNECT BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH
- DISCONNECT CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the release cylinder.
- DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 clips and 2 washers, and disconnect the 2 cables from the transaxle.
- Remove the 2 clips, and disconnect the 2 cables from the bracket.
- REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
- Remove the drive shaft (see REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH
- Remove the drive shaft (see REMOVAL ).
- DISCONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- SUSPEND ENGINE ASSEMBLY
- Install the No. 1 and No. 2 engine hangers in the correct direction.ENGINE HANGERS REFERENCE
Part Name Parts No. No. 1 engine hanger 12281-28010 No. 2 engine hanger 12282-28010 Bolt 91512-61020 Torque: 38 N*m (387 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf)
- Attach the engine chain hoist to the engine hanger.NOTE: Do not attempt to hang the engine by hooking the chain to any other part.
- Install the No. 1 and No. 2 engine hangers in the correct direction.
- REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- SUPPORT MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
- Support the transaxle with a transmission jack.
- REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH
- Remove the 5 bolts, nut and engine mounting insulator.
- REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH
- Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket.
- REMOVE MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 10 bolts.
- Separate and remove the transaxle from the engine.
- REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION CASE PROTECTOR
- Remove the 2 bolts and case protector.
- REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
- Remove the bolt, nut and front engine mounting insulator from the front engine mounting bracket.
- Remove the 2 bolts and front engine mounting bracket from the transaxle.
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET
- Remove the bolt and rear engine mounting insulator from the rear engine mounting bracket.
- Remove the 3 bolts and rear engine mounting bracket from the transaxle.
