Inspection Procedure

  1. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back door lock assembly (see REMOVAL  ).
    2. Check operation of the door courtesy switch.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Courtesy switch) 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 3 Lock 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 3 Unlock Below 1 Ω
    4. Reinstall the back door lock assembly (see INSTALLATION  ).

    NG : REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL J/B) COURTESY SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the 2A main body ECU (instrument panel junction block) connector.
    2. Disconnect the L3 back door lock assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2A-7 (BCTY) - L3-3 (D+) Always Below 1 Ω
      2A-7 (BCTY) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L3-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Reconnect the back door lock assembly connector
    5. Reconnect the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block) connector.

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK : PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  .
