Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the value of the "Data List" (see DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST  ).
      1. Main Body: 
        DATA LIST - MAIN BODY

        Tester Display Measurement Item / Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
        Back Door Open Handle SW Back door opener switch signal (outside handle switch) / ON or OFF ON' Back door opener switch is pushed
        OFF. Back door opener switch is not pushed
        -

        OK: 

        The display is as specified in the normal condition. 

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK : PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   .

  2. INSPECT BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back door opener switch assembly (See REMOVAL ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Switch Position Specified Condition
      2 - 3 Back door opener switch not pushed (OFF) 10 kΩ or higher
      2 - 3 Back door opener switch pushed (ON) Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the back door opener switch assembly (See INSTALLATION ).

    NG : REPLACE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the C45 main body ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C45-7 (BDSU) - L7-3 Always Below 1 Ω
      C45-7 (BDSU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Reconnect the main body ECU connector.

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L7-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK : REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
