Shift Paddle Switch: Removal: Removal

NOTE:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing the steering column. Refer to PRECAUTION .

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS TO FACE STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  3. REMOVE STEERING PAD 

    Refer to REMOVAL

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL

  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
  6. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT  . Refer to DISASSEMBLY - Step 3
  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Detach the 4 pins and disconnect the 2 shift paddle switches from the steering wheel assembly.
    3. Detach the 6 guides and remove the shift paddle switch with No. 1 switch wire from the steering wheel assembly.

    4. Remove the 2 cable ties.

    5. Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the 2 shift paddle switches from the No. 1 switch wire.
